Fearless, eclectic and always ahead of the curve, The Lantern is Colston Hall’s smaller, more intimate venue and a jewel in Bristol’s colourful live music scene.
Housed in the oldest part of the Hall, it’s where a bold and adventurous programme of world, folk, jazz, electronica and new classical music thrives, plus ruthlessly witty comedy, fresh from the Fringe and beyond.
Whether it’s the bar-setting modern folk of Eliza Carthy, the game-changing hip-hop of cut and paste master, DJ Yoda, the West African highlife of Ibibio Sound Machine, or Grammy-winning Jazz and RnB maestros Snarky Puppy, The Lantern celebrates a diverse collection of true boundary-less creativity.
Home to local and touring acts alike, The Lantern has seen many a success story. Acts like Benjamin Clementine and The White Buffalo have honed their performance for early fans in this vibrant space, before returning to sell out shows in the main hall and larger city venues. This is where acts play before it all takes off.
You might not have heard it yet – but if it’s good, it’s probably about to be on at the The Lantern.
