The HillBenders Present TOMMY: A Bluegrass Opry + Dom Flemons

Part of Bristol Americana Weekend

Springfield, Missouri’s The HillBenders present their sensational bluegrass version of The Who’s legendary rock opera Tommy. Conceived to celebrate the original album’s anniversary, and including spirited string-band re-enactments of all the original tunes (See Me, Feel Me, Pinball Wizard, I’m Free etc), this is a must-see combination of authentic bluegrass picking and the greatest of all classic texts from the golden age of rock. The show is opened by American songster and banjoist supreme Dom Flemons, a co-founder of the Grammy-winning Carolina Chocolate Drops (with Rhiannon Giddens and Justin Robinson) and an expert on African-American string band music of the Carolinas and beyond.

“Windmilling arms, intricate harmonies and creatively composed layering… most excellent!” Rolling Stone on The HillBenders Present Tommy

“Easily the most gifted American songster of his generation” Living Blues on Dom Flemons.
