Refined over a decade, Fauré’s ‘Requiem’ Mass for the dead sustains an abiding solace discharged in the luminescent hope and reassurance of the concluding ‘In Paradisum’.

Before this, Bristol Choral Society perform with the profound spirituality of a different order as glittering woodwind, brass, two pianos and harp queue up to refract the laser-sharp light of Stravinsky’s triptych ‘Symphony of Psalms’. Prefaced by more Stravinsky is the composer’s wartime Sonata for two pianos; a work shot through with a crystalline neoclassicism.

This is a Bristol Choral Society concert taking place at Bristol Cathedral, College Green, Bristol BS1 5TJ
