Bristol Plays Music and St George’s Bristol present the third Sounds Inspiring Festival, over a month of events involving thousands of Bristol’s young people. Taking place in venues across the city, the festival celebrates everything about young people’s music-making: their energy, talent, and imagination.

In it’s third year, the Sounds Inspiring Festival is bigger and better than ever! With events and performances taking place across the city there’s loads projects and activities to get involved in.

Mini Singers

Free admission

Mini Singers is a free and fun choir for primary aged boys and girls currently in Year 1 and 2. Mini Singers is full of activities and funny songs and a great way for young people to explore their musical expression.

Teacher’s Choir
Mon 4 Jun, 5pm, Parson Street Primary
Free admission

Get those singing voices at the ready as Bristol Plays Music and Parson Street Primary team up to host a Teachers Choir! The choir will cover a mix of pop, musical theatre and gospel as well as many other genres. No experience necessary, just a willingness to take part and have fun!

Sing Sing Sing

Come and join a 600 strong youth choir as they sing farewell to Colston Hall ahead of our transformation. For one night only Bristol Plays Music will be taking over the Hall for the annual schools summer concert singing extravaganza!

Project Zulu

The University of the West of England presents the Project Zulu choir comprising children from two primary schools in the Madadeni Township, Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa.

MiniBeats – Super Strings

From the highest notes of the violins, to the darkly delicious tones of the viola and cello, explore the world of bows, bridges, frogs, spikes and guts! With presenter Laura Tanner and marvellous musicians from the Bristol Ensemble.

Primary Orchestra Day

Bristol SU comes alive with the sounds of the Sea, Mountains and Space! 160 young musicians from primary schools across Bristol will be coming together on Tuesday 12th June to take part in the Primary Orchestra Programme Showcase.

Start with singing is an innovative singing programme for primary school aged children using techniques and resources developed by Sing Up, The Voices Foundation and the British Kodaly Academy.

Withywood Celebration
Thu 21 Jun, 5pm – 6pm, Merchant’s Academy Primary School
Free admission

Pupils from Merchant’s Primary and Venturer’s Academy join together for an end of year singing and musical celebration.

Chef Gherkin and his Magic Mixing Machine

Chef Gherkin is the world’s finest chef….at least when his Magic Mixing Machine is working!  Come and see what he cooks up for his very regal guest. Then get messy with everybody’s favourites pizza and spaghetti with tomato sauce.
