Simple Things 2016 is already shaping up to be the strongest effort from the Bristolian festival yet. The first wave of announced acts revealed LA indie outfit Warpaint as the first headliner, who’ll bring their wave of shoegaze-tinged psychedelic rock to the Colston Hall Main Stage, alongside Ben UFO as the electronic headliner, who, as an increasingly esteemed selector, will undoubtedly continue to astound fans with his unbridled eclecticism.

Elsewhere, ex-Beta Band frontman Steve Mason will showcase his confident, joyous songwriting; synth-pop producer Jessy Lanza will deliver infectious pop music; and Powell’s will air his brand of uncompromising noise and techno. Awful Records’ Abra will also appear, sharing a bill with experimental punk band Suuns and grime ascendant AJ Tracey.

Looking towards this year’s electronic offering, Metronomy’s Joe Mount will treat #ST16 to a selection of music that inspired his latest album, Summertime 08, and Beats In Space boss Tim Sweeney will share his years of expertise with the crowds. A Teklife showcase will be in session, featuring the label’s top man Spinn and a footwork dream-team of Traxman, Jackie Dagger and Feloneezy, and techno fans will be pleased – Veronica Vasicka, Boris, Copenhagen’s Courtesy, Lena Willikens and Karen Gwyer will all making appearances. Madam X, Red Axes, and Saiorse will also DJ. Head over to the website to check out the full line-up so far.
