The National Children’s Orchestras of Great Britain are celebrating their 40th anniversary with an incredible classical musical showcase, set to inspire music lovers of all ages. Astonishing audiences since 1978, their accomplished Main Orchestra now make their 2018 concert debut. Perfect for the whole family, this promises to be a fun and magical night.
Landscapes and Seascapes is a concert told in two halves, a dizzying journey through the world and its waters. For the first half you are invited to join NCO in drifting down the longest river in the Czech Republic (Vltava), dancing under fallen leaves of orange and red hues (‘Autumn’ from The Seasons), and spending the evening reveling with strange characters atop a Russian mountain (Night on Bare Mountain).
Following the interval, the mood changes from merriment to maritime with excerpts from the Four Sea Interludes from Britten’s first opera, Peter Grimes. The concert closes with Debussy’s impressionist masterpiece, La Mer. Simply sit back and let the music wash over you…
