Mariana Sadovska

Known as the Ukrainian Björk in her home country, the singer, actress and composer brings us archaic midsummer night invocations, wedding songs and migrant chants from the remote villages of rural Ukraine. “Protocol and tradition of whatever style she’s working in just vanish; she replaces them with pure vitality,” says the New York Times. For this performance, Sadovska teams up with percussionist and electronica specialist Christian Thomé to create a collage of Ukrainian folk sounds and contemporary electro-acoustic sounds.

Most expressive: an astonishing mélange of archaic elements, vocal art… and theatrical-ironic refractions.
