Marc Collins (Nouvelle Vague) presents ‘Bristol’

French band Nouvelle Vague co-producer, Marc Collin, brings his new musical project ‘Bristol’ to none other than Bristol for it’s very first outing. Following in a similar musical vein as Nouvelle Vague, ‘Bristol’ takes 90s trip-hop classics and reinvents them in a 1960s movie soundtrack style, injecting some of Marc’s inherent French coolness along the way.

Nouvelle Vague shot to fame in 2004 when their debut album swept the globe as the new ubercool sound infiltrated our consciousness in trendy coffee shops, chill out bars, and anywhere worth hanging out. The album, covering mostly British punk & post punk, was delivered in a Brazilian bossa nova lounge style with songs like ‘Too Drunk to Fuck’, ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’ and ‘Guns of Brixton’ finding a new place in the 00s music scene.

Tipping his hat to the great and good of the trip-hop scene, ‘Bristol’ includes tracks by Massive Attack, Portishead, Tricky, Smith & Mighty and Archive as well as Monk & Cantella and Morcheeba. With many of the Nouvelle Vague musicians and singers on board, Marc may well be on to another winning formula and this is your chance to catch it before the album is released in 2015.

Plus DJ set from Rob Smith, one of Bristol’s founding trip hoppers, and a special guest appearance from Monk & Canatella’s Jim Johnston.

This is a standing concert. Doors 7pm, show 8pm.
