Lennox Berkeley: Music for the Piano

Part of Clifton International Festival of Music

A rare opportunity to hear the virtuosic and fiendishly challenging piano repertoire of Lennox Berkeley alongside the music of Chopin and Poulenc, two composers who shaped his unique sound world, performed by University of Bristol alumnus, Dr Douglas Stevens. The concert will feature the CD launch of Berkeley’s complete piano works, recorded by Stevens earlier this year.

Programme:

Lennox Berkeley Three Mazurkas, op. 32 No. 1 ‘Hommage à Chopin’
Frederick Chopin Mazurka No. 5 in B flat Major, op. 7 no.1.
Francis Poulenc Nocturne No. 4 in C minor ‘Bal fantôme’.
