CANCELLED – Keith Tippett & Matthew Bourne, + Keith Tippett Octet

Part of Bristol New Music 2018

The Keith Tippett Octet and Matthew Bourne concert will no longer be going ahead on Saturday 21st April due to unforeseen circumstances. We do hope to reschedule this concert in the not too distant future. Keith and Matthew along with Colston Hall and all involved with Bristol New Music offer their sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Bristol-born pianist and composer Keith Tippett has been a seminal figure in the evolution of UK jazz since the 1960s. In the first half of this celebration performance, he unveils a brand new improvisatory partnership with fellow pianist Matthew Bourne, one of the most talented pianists on today’s jazz scene.

The second part of the concert will consist of a full set with the Keith Tippett Octet who plays on his most recent, acclaimed recording The Nine Dances of Patrick O’Gonogon, in music that carries echoes of Irish folk themes, Ellington and Mingus, but which is entirely of Tippett’s own making.

This concert is part of Bristol New Music 2018, bringing the very best international contemporary new music to the city in partnership with Colston Hall, Arnolfini, Spike Island, St George’s Bristol and the University of Bristol for a dazzling weekend to explores new realms in sound.
