Revered on both sides of the pond, shapeshifting alt-country musician Karl Blau returns to Bristol. In the two decades or so of his active career, he has released dozens of records characterised by a healthy sense of curiosity and an unrelenting DIY attitude. His latest release, the critically acclaimed ‘Introducing Karl Blau’ (2016) that “shimmers with an enchanting beauty” (The 405), is a collection of reworked classic country and soul tunes – which turned out to be the ideal accommodation for Blau’s broad baritone vocals and blues guitar chops.
