Journeys of Sound is a free night of improvised music in our Stalls Bar, hosted by vocalist and songwriter Priscilla Andersohn and her live band.
Sit back, share a drink with friends and enjoy a night of organic music and sound as prolific collaborator Priscilla and her band improvise around a theme, riffing and reinventing as they go, weaving stories into music live on stage.
Journeys of Sound showcases the creativity of musicians from different backgrounds brought together through the power of music. This session takes its cue from Priscilla’s own story, which saw her grow up in Kenya before moving to England. Feeling like an outsider, looking for ways to communicate that transcend language barriers, she found a sense of identity, belonging and unity through music.
Expect diverse influences of jazz, soul and trip hop alongside hints of the sounds of Priscilla’s homeland, as our stalls bar is turned into a cosy, warm and inviting space to relax and enjoy a night of free music, carried by the powerful sound of Priscilla’s soulful voice.
Also around the theme of coming together through music, from 18-29 November Colston Hall hosts a special exhibition called A Place For Everyone, in which the people of Bristol give voice to their stories of Colston Hall. This collection of audio interviews alongside specially commissioned illustrations give a unique snapshot into the role the Hall has played in people’s lives.
