Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker continue to dismantle any chance of being pigeonholed. Their most recent album, 2016’s ‘Overnight’, is “a gently exquisite set” (The Guardian) of hard-to-label songwriting. Defiantly innovative, their sonic hallmark is anchored in Josienne’s haunting vocals, which “immediately grab your soul” (Thank Folk For That), Ben’s intricately expressive guitar and the pair’s self-deprecating humour. Although they have been likened to Sandy Denny, June Tabor and Nic Jones, this “class act” (Folk Radio) have a captivating sound that’s all their own.
