GoGo Penguin – Koyaanisqatsi

Mercury nominated, Blue Note Records signed acoustic-electronica trio GoGo Penguin present a special filmic preview of their latest project: a live sound + vision performance featuring their own newly composed soundtrack to Godfrey Reggio’s 1982 cult classic, ‘Koyaanisqatsi’, one of the most successful documentary films ever made.

Originally scored by Philip Glass, Godfrey Reggio’s ‘Koyaanisqatsi’ is a remarkable cinematic masterpiece that contrasts the fragile beauty of the natural world with the frenzied action of cities and technology through beautiful time-lapse photography. Its powerful conjunction of music and image resonated so much with GoGo Penguin that in 2015 they composed a new score, to offer the perfect contemporary counterpart to Reggio’s profound images. Their rich, textured music illuminates the film’s original poignancy anew, to create a live audio-visual experience that will appeal to fans of GoGo Penguin and cult cinema in equal measure.
