Gary Crosby’s Groundation

Internationally acclaimed bassist and bandleader, Gary Crosby is well known for having audiences dancing in the aisles of some of the world’s most prestigious venues whenever his fantastic orchestra, the 35-‐piece Jazz Jamaica All Stars or even the band’s 10-‐piece version is in town. Tonight he reveals another side to his jazz persona with a more compact, more intimate project: Gary Crosby’s Groundation which he describes as a ‘group discussion’ between himself on double bass, hornsman Nathaniel Facey (alto sax), and rising stars Shirley Tetteh (guitar) and Moses Boyd (drums). Each member of Groundation contributes pieces to the set making for a wonderfully diverse and engaging programme. Progressive jazz with some Afrobeat accents interspersed with thoughtful ballads. Vital and enthralling!
