At this performance Bristol Reggae Orchestra will be launching their new CD, ‘From the heart of St Paul’s, Bristol’. The culmination of six years’ work, the eight track CD includes pieces by orchestra members and features over 40 musicians drawn from a wide range of backgrounds playing reggae classics, original orchestral works and innovative fusions such as Persian reggae, developed with refugee musicians from the Lorraine Ayensu Refugee Arts (LARA) project.
Since their first concert sold out and turned the prestigious St George’s concert hall into a seething dance hall the orchestra have not looked back. Led by composer and arranger Norma Daykin, they have brought together hundreds of musicians from diverse backgrounds to connect, develop and perform high quality music. They have won awards, been featured on TV and BBC radio, and performed all over the South West and Wales. With the help of Bristol Plays Music and many friends, including patron Gary Crosby OBE who is featured on the CD, they are celebrating their first studio album. Join the celebration!
