With new album ‘Solid Mirage’ due to be released on 3 March, Fránçois & The Atlas Mountains have evolved beyond the lush ballads and gorgeous chamber pop of previous albums ‘E Volo Love’ and ‘Piano Ombre’ to channel a fiery political collective conscience into their music.
Rather than sticking their heads into carefree sands, the new album taps into Fránçois’s early love of grunge, from which they borrow a sense of frank honesty that is absolutely rooted in present events. The hope and frustration expressed in the new music is wrapped up within their existing gene pool of influences, from Afro-pop to French chanson and Yé-yé, with a revitalised energy and power as yet unheard from this still-blossoming group.
Support from Tamu Massif, whose lovely lo-fi indie incorporates layers of psychedelia and electronica in the mix.
