Chamber Concert: Dvořák

Stephen Johnson and English Piano Trio

Dvořák Romantic pieces for violin and piano
Dvořák Rondo for cello and piano
Dvořák Waldesruhe for cello and piano
Dvořák Piano Trio op.90 Dumky

The signature tune of his farewell tour before ‘exile’ to the USA, bristling with Bohemian gaiety and melancholy, Dvořák’s Dumky Piano Trio remains one of his most popular chamber works.  It is partnered here by seductive violin miniatures and the lambent Waldesruhe in the composer’s own transcription for cello and piano.
