After 12 wondrous years, the inimitable Bellowhead are calling it a day with a humungous two-part farewell tour. “It’s in keeping with all the musical theatrical traditions that make Bellowhead what it is, that we will end at our peak and leave and audience wanting more,” the band says. The eight-time Radio 2 Folk Award-winners sold out both the Royal Albert Hall and Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall last year, not to mention playing a plethora of festivals, including BBC Radio 2’s Festival in a Day at Hyde Park. They are “with the exception of The Who… surely the best live act in the country”, reckons The Independent while WOMAD simply calls them “Britain’s most successful traditional folk act”.
