California-based singer-songwriter Angelo De Augustine grew up as the child of studio musicians whose influence has moulded his sweeping, minimalist folk songs. A frequent collaborator with Sufjan Stevens, Agustine’s delicate songcraft has led him to tours with Moses Sumney and The Barr Brothers and headline shows in the U.S. and Europe as well as a spot opening for Stevens’ Planetariumconcert at Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
Augustine’s latest album ‘Tomb’ was released in November 2018.
High Climbers are a unique blend of folk, post-rock, shoegaze fusion.
The roots of High Climbers began as primitive bedroom sessions between Karim (France and Mike (Australia) back in early 2013. Their initial inability to communicate verbally paved the way for a special musical language to form. Call it being in the right place at the right time, but far away from where you started.
Mike and Karim performed as a duo for almost 3 years, playing everywhere from the local pub/club and underground cell to living rooms and the back of Karim’s van. Their sound emanates warmth through a soothing melody, and although grounded in folk and pop also has an experimental twist that beholds intrigue.
Despite pushing on as a duo, the boys always felt the skills of a bassist and drummer would enhance their sound (or at least make studio sessions cheaper). In mid-2016 they met Rob and Susie, who by some stroke of luck played the very instruments lacking in High Climbers. Thankfully the two didn’t need any convincing, and in mid-2017 the group officially squared.
High Climbers have toured UK and France, and have even played a singular special show in Melbourne (Mike’s hometown). Various accolades include being featured on BBC Introducing, opening up for artists like J Fernandez and Lush Purr, feature segments on The Bristol Music Show (TV), and a collaboration with DJ Moneyshot (The Allergies) on a mixtape for their second EP.
High Climbers play mood music with the aid of guitars, keys, and voices. Their live shows are shown to be extremely immersive, atmospheric experiences that intend to lose listeners and viewers in the process. Their debut record is currently in post-production and is intended for release late 2018.
