“Alpha feel as natural, inevitable and organic as breathing, as wracked and insatiable as a never ending deep, dark night of the soul,” says Melody Maker of post-trip-hop band Alpha. The music industry’s best kept secret have collaborated with such musical heavyweights as Madonna and Robert Plant, and their music has been likened to “great records the Carpenters and Brian Eno never made together” (MUZIK). “Citing the likes of Scott Walker and Glen Campbell as influences, Alpha take the established art of song-writing and put their own unique slant on it, creating everything from dub-driven instrumentals to epic string-laden masterpieces” (I-D).
Alpha play their first shows in 10 years, a comeback many fans have been waiting a long time for. Their new release, ‘Loving Nobody’, has been called their finest moment to date. “Alpha remain one of those bands who should be talked about alongside their more celebrated Bristolian cousins, Massive Attack and Portishead. On this form, they might yet find the space among the clouds that their music deserves. Undoubtedly one of the albums of the year” (Future Sound Music).
The Fantasy Orchestra support, along with a DJ set from Alpha Soundmachine.
