Statement on concert relocations from Colston Hall

Last Friday a small amount of debris was identified to have fallen from the cavity above the ceiling into the main hall, which led to the relocation of the Gurt Lush Choir concert on Saturday night.

Bristol City Council and Bristol Music Trust immediately launched investigations to identify the cause of the issue and to ensure that the undisturbed asbestos in the old part of the building remains contained and safe.

Unfortunately the investigation and remedial works will take longer than originally thought and as the safety of our visitors and performers is paramount we are taking the precaution to close the Main Hall while works continue. This will affect concerts taking place in the Main Hall this week, while the free foyer performances and shows in the Lantern will continue as planned.

Mercury Rev on Thursday 13th July, The Shires & Ward Thomas on Friday 14th July, Martha Wainwright and Angaleena Presley on Saturday 15th July, Nick Lowe, Paul Carrack & Andy Fairweather Low on Sunday 16th July and Mavis Staples on Monday 17th July will all be relocated to the O2 Academy.

All tickets remain valid and can still be purchased from Colston Hall. Customers are advised to note that concerts at the O2 Academy are in a standing format.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we are grateful to the O2 Academy for providing an alternative venue at such short notice.
