Travel disruption expected for city centre demonstrations 15 July to 19 July

Last Updated: 16:00 Mon 15 Jul

We are aware of the Extinction Rebellion protests taking place this week from Monday 15 to Friday 19 July. We currently have no concerns that their plans will impact the smooth running of Colston Hall Presents gigs on the Harbourside for New Order on Thursday 18 July and The Special on Friday 19 July.

Extinction Rebellion are currently occupying Bristol Bridge in the city centre and have road blocks on Baldwin Street, Wine street/High Street and Victoria Street. These road blocks may disrupt travel to the Harbourside concerts so we recommend you allow additional time to get to the event on the day.

Please note that these actions may not include everything happening throughout the city, and some actions may take place last minute unexpectedly.

Parking

The closest multi-storey car park to The Amphitheatre is Millennium Square car park with 24 hour parking. If you’re using sat nav, enter BS1 5LL as your destination.

Alternatively you can us the multi-storey Trenchard Street car park, situated behind Colston Hall.

The Extinction Rebellion protests should not affect access to either of these car parks. However roads may be more congested as a result of the road blocks in the city centre.

Bus

While these road closures are in place there will be diversions to public bus transport and park and ride services.

For the most up-to-date information on diversions please visit the Travel West website.
