Project Zulu - Thursday 6th June
Project Zulu area an extraordinary ensemble of singing, drumming and dancing children from Sithobelumthetho Primary School in the Madadeni Township, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Having won numerous awards in regional and national competitions in South Africa, they now bring their vibrant performances of traditional Zulu folk and gospel songs, and eye-opening Zulu dances to UK audiences.
This gala concert, shared with some of the region’s finest youth ensembles from Bristol Cathedral Choir School, Clifton College Preparatory School and The University of the West of England, is the finale to their three week UK tour. Money raised from concert ticket sales will be used to purchase and install much needed solar panels on the roof of Sithobelumthetho School.
The varied programme of individual and joint performances is the result of shared musical workshops during their three week visit, and includes massed renditions of ‘The World In Union’ and ‘Sing’ composed by Gary Barlow and Andrew Lloyd Webber. If you like choirs, you’ll love this! If you like African music, this is one not to miss!
