Lee 'Scratch' Perry
"I’m an artist, a musician, a magician, a writer, a singer; I’m everything. My name is Lee from the African jungle, originally from West Africa. I’m a man from somewhere else, but my origin is from Africa, straight to Jamaica through reincarnation; reborn in Jamaica..."
Genius, innovator, madman – Lee Perry is reggae’s most influential father figure and musical trailblazer. As a producer he worked with the likes of Bob Marley & The Wailers, Max Romero and The Clash to help shape the emerging laid back dub sound. As a songwriter, his ground-breaking use of samples on songs like People Funny Boy and Roast Fish and Cornbread placed him right at the forefront of the emerging reggae scene. As an enigma, he consistently comes up with some of the most eccentric and thrilling live shows around – all at the age of 74.
His first live show in the UK for 6 years, this is a rare chance to hear a real musical legend live on stage.
