Berlioz Grande Messe Des Morts
South West Festival Chorus presents a major performance of one of the grandest works in the entire choral repertoire in the superb setting of Bristol’s newly-revamped Colston Hall.
Written for massed choirs and equally massive orchestra, including four off-stage brass bands, eight bassoons, twelve French Horns and ten sets of timpani, this rare outing of Berlioz’s own favourite composition is a not-to-be-missed opportunity that will stagger the senses and banish those winter blues. Joining South West Festival Chorus at its most majestic, under Chorus Master Gavin Carr and Conductor Jason Thornton, is the full might of the Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra and the internationally renowned tenor Jeffrey Lloyd-Roberts.
