Bristol International Classical Season

Sep 2014 - Jun 2015

This year we welcome the illustrious Czech Philharmonic and the National Arts Orchestra of Canada, which is making its Hall debut, as well as orchestras from Salzburg, Warsaw and Brussels.  Closer to home, The Hallé flexes its unassailable Elgarian prowess under Sir Mark Elder, BBC National Orchestra of Wales burrows into Brahms, Vladimir Ashkenazy’s Philharmonia takes care of Sibelius’ anniversary in style, and under indefatigable Principal Conductor Kirill Karabits, our resident Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra ensures that the Straussian flame burns bright.

Pre-concert talks take place at 6.25pm in The Lantern as Jonathan James introduces the concert and interviews a member of the orchestra.

Chamber concerts compliment the programme with the English Piano Trio, accompanied by a talk from BBC Radio host and highly regarded music lecturer Stephen Johnson.

Colston Hall’s mighty Harrison & Harrison organ comes under the spotlight in Saint-Saëns’ thrilling Symphony No. 3 performed by Oliver Condy and the Brussels Philharmonic.  Learn more about this fantastic instrument here:
