Kate Williams Trio and The Bristol Ensemble conducted by William Goodchild perform ‘Bill Evans and the Impressionists’.
Another new project supported by BIJ&BF featuring celebrated UK jazz pianist Kate Williams and her trio, Bristol Ensemble – Bristol’s professional chamber orchestra – and composer/ conductor William Goodchild.
This inaugural concert in the Interplay Series places the music of Bill Evans alongside orchestral pieces by the French Impressionist composers.
The programme features new orchestral arrangements of some of Bill Evans’ finest compositions with favourite works by Ravel, Debussy and Satie.
Bill Evans is widely considered to be one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time, and perhaps the most influential of the post-World War II jazz pianist/ composers. This concert places his music next to the French composers that had a profound influence on his work, and utilises the orchestra to present his compositions and sound in a new way.
