BBC Music Day 2015

A Nationwide Celebration of Music

BBC Music Day is a nationwide celebration of music, aiming to bring people together across generations and communities through their love of music. This unique day will feature live music and performances involving both well-known musicians and local community groups from across the UK.

As part of the BBC Music Day celebrations, Colston Hall is hosting a unique special educational needs and disability youth concert. Performing with custom built instruments using new assistive technology, children will play alongside South West youth choirs and members of the British Paraorchestra, led by Charles Hazlewood.

Organised by Bristol Plays Music, the education hub for Bristol, the concert will feature nearly 200 young musicians from all over the South West and will be a taster of what’s to come in Colston Hall’s flagship Fast Forward Music Festival – a unique festival championing and celebrating disabled music taking place in July.

3pm-4pm Performance by British Paraorchestra and OpenUp Youth orchestra with Bristol Youth Choir conducted by David Ogden: broadcast live on BBC’s local radio stations in the West. The performance includes a 15-minute ‘simulcast’ with the BBC Radio 3.
