Colston Hall redevelopment
New Foyer Development October Newsletter
8th October 2007.
Dear neighbour,
Work is progressing well on site. We hope that our impact on your daily lives has been kept to a minimum over the past month.
Piling works is progressing well with its completion due in the next three weeks. Initial environmental concerns have not been realised with noise, ducts and vibration pollution impact far less than originally feared. The ground works has also progressed well. Its completion is due by the end of November. At the end of the ground works phase, the whole site will be capped with concrete. This will minimise any mud exiting the site and polluting nearby roads and pavements. We hope you agree that the roads and pavements have continually been kept clean and tidy.
You will notice works taking place at the bottom of Pipe Lane. This is to install the storm water drainage system. It is planned that the works will take another three week to complete. Road closures are not required during these works. Traffic management will be put in place during the road crossing to maintain two way traffic flow.
The tower crane installation is due to take place during the weekend of 13th & 14th October 2007. This is highly dependant on weather conditions. Lifting operation cannot take place when conditions are excessively windy. If conditions are not suitable, the crane will be installed on the next suitable weekend. You may have noticed advanced warning notices regarding the road closure. Colston Street will be closed from the junction with Pipe Lane up to the junction with Host Street. Pipe Lane and Host Street will remain open with traffic diversions in place via Trenchard Street and Pipe Lane. The bus stop as Colston Street will be closed during the road closure.
Western Power are due to commence electrical cable installation works on 22nd October 2007. Their works will take place from within Colston Hall to the bottom of Pipe Lane where it then enters the construction site. Trenching works will take place within the pavement only. Their works is likely to take two week to complete.
The concrete frame works to the building is due to commence in mid October. You should see the building coming out of the ground and into view above the site hoarding by Christmas.
