Colston Hall launches new exhibition space with specially created show this September
Colston Hall is launching an exhibition space in their £20 million new foyer building and are on the look out for talented local artists who have work to exhibit to show their work in the gallery.
The space, called The Glass Room, will have a grand opening on 3 September with an exhibition of completely new work devised especially for the space by three Devon based artists known collectively as On Show. Kieron Leach will present his tall landscape inspired paintings, Creydi Nevill his powerful colour field expanses and Edward Crumpton his drawings produced on journeys around Dartmoor.
The space is being curated in partnership with Love Local, the organisation that run the Made in Bristol regular craft and art fairs at Colston Hall. Love Local Director Bryony Morgan said: 'The Glass Room is a lovely exhibition space and we are really excited about carrying the Made in Bristol and Love Local ethos of supporting local artists into regular exhibitions at the Hall.'
Bryony is keen for artists based in the South-West with work to exhibit or a creative idea to explore to get in touch. 'Our artistic policy is not selective or restrictive – if artists like the space and have quality work to show they’ll be given the chance to exhibit.'
Colston Hall Director Graeme Howell said: 'With the huge numbers of people coming through Colston Hall’s foyer every week, The Glass Room is one of the highest profile exhibition spaces in Bristol. Colston Hall has a strong track record in supporting musical talent in the city, and with the widening creative industries agenda it makes sense to use our space to help artists and creatives get their work seen.'
The On Show exhibition runs from Friday 3 September to Saturday 2 October at Colston Hall’s Glass Room. A preview evening where you can meet the artists and gain an insight into their creative processes will be held at the Glass Room, Colston Hall Foyer on Friday 3 September between 6pm and 8pm.
Any artists interested in exhibiting their work in the new space should contact Bryony Morgan on glassroomart [at] gmail [dot] com. For more information about the exhibition visit the On Show website.
