Get Connected: Schools

Our schools programme gives you the opportunity to tailor a visit or workshop to your school’s specific needs or to access one of our schools programmes. We can work with your students at any age to develop their music al skills, learn more about the music industry and gain a qualification in the process, from OCN to Arts Awards.

School visits

Include backstage tours, talks by key members of operational, programming and marketing staff (subject to availability), and can be combined with a workshop programme.

School workshops

We can provide a variety of bespoke workshops from song-writing to drumming to rock band sessions, DJ and music production and technology based ensemble work.

Project based learning

We can work with whole year groups over a period of time to deliver a topic-based project. Please see our Bristol Brunel Academy Duet Project spotlight for details.

Small group tution

We are able to offer regular small group instrumental and music tuition. Check out our Rock School project with Bristol Brunel Academy to see what we offer.

Early years provision

We have been working alongside Bristol Arts and Music Service over the past six years to develop a comprehensive early years music offer.

Alternative education provision

Our alternative education provision is split into two categories: Different Class and Step Up.

Different Class
Accredited Alternative Education provision to which schools, PRUs and other agencies can refer individuals or groups of young people at risk of disengaging with mainstream education. Have a look at the Different Class page or get in touch with us on differentclass [at] colstonhall [dot] org for more info.

Step Up
Our primary to secondary school transition programme, to help children adjust to ‘big school’. The programme includes a 10-week weekly session based in the primary school setting and a weeklong summer school in the Secondary school setting. If you are a primary or secondary school and are concerned about transition for some of your pupils have a look at our Step Up page spotlight or contact us at stepup [at] colstonhall [dot] org

One to one mentoring

All the work we do is underpinned by a desire to empower the people we work with. All our staff are trained Music Mentors and posses advanced communication skills and emotional intelligence. We are able to provide additional 1:1 mentoring alongside any activity. We can work with you or your students towards personalised goals using a variety of strategies.
