Performer and Improviser Uncovered
Learn how to use improvisation techniques as a tool for songwriting and performance from the best in the business. This accredited course can be used as a forum for experimentation and for developing your own creative music.
The course is facilitated by active professional local musicians and contains masterclasses delivered by industry professionals who cut their teeth on the Bristol circuit.
During this level 2 accredited course you will regularly perform and reflect on your own and the performances of others. You will respond to a range of stimuli and develop strategies for performing improvised material. The course will culminate in an improvised performance at the Colston Hall.
By the end of the course learners will be able to:
- produce creative responses to given stimuli
- work with a theme
- explore characters / emotions / moods
- participate in ‘off the text’ work
- understand the relationship between scripted material and improvisation
- reflect on their own work
- develop strategies for improvised performance
- develop strategies for group improvisation
Activities include:
- group improvisation
- solo improvisation
- improvised performances
- using improvisation as a starting point for composition
- reflective practice
- videoed improvised performances
