'A terrifically imaginative and original show, something really special.' The Guardian

'Aerial artistry with ingenuity and theatrical flair.' The Times

'There’s no shortage of risk and split second timing as they roll, spin and flail on the wheel, but it’s the narrative line that carries you through.' The Observer

Ockham’s Razor, the award winning aerial theatre company who specialise in creating physical theatre on original pieces of equipment, return with their new show The Mill.
Experience the sweat, grind and grit of physical work as a wheel of wood and steel is suspended in the air and powered by the five performers. Hundreds of metres of rope wind around the stage and link the wheel into a complex system. In The Mill a seemingly small decision can gather momentum beyond your control. The fight to maintain your position can find you running like mad to power the treadmill while someone else is riding it like a ferris wheel.

Directed by Toby Sedgwick (Olivier Award for Best Theatre Choreographer for the National Theatre production War Horse). Dramaturg Rufus Norris (Evening Standard Award for best Director).

Produced by Turtle Key Arts
Devised by Ockham’s Razor in association with Toby Sedgwick

Rossini – Overture The Barber of Seville
Albinoni/Giazotto – Adagio in G minor for Organ and Strings
Respighi – Pines of Rome
Puccini – Messa di Gloria
Conductors: Ian Holmes and Roger Huckle
Tenor: Christopher Hann
Baritone-Bass: George Watson

An evening of music by four Italian ‘Masters’ presented by the ever effervescent University of the West of England Symphony Orchestra, Singers and Soloists, conducted by Ian Holmes and Roger Huckle.
Rossini’s The Barber of Seville was one of the first Italian operas performed in the USA and the popular overture with its jaunty melody has become a staple of the orchestral repertoire. Whether Albinoni or Giazotto is the real composer of the Adagio in G minor for Organ and Strings will probably always remain a mystery, but this beautiful piece of music remains consistently popular and is frequently played on film and television. Respighi’s glorious tone poem, Pines of Rome, is a magnificent montage in four sections: The Pines at the Villa Borghese depicting children at play, the meditative The Pines near the Catacombs, nocturnal Pines of the Janiculum and concluding with the exciting The Pines of the Appian Way, evoking ancient Rome. The finale to the evening’s concert, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, is a resplendent work for soloists, full chorus and orchestra and was written as part of his graduation thesis and first performed in Lucca in 1880. Full of wonderfully operatic melodies, the University Symphony Orchestra and Singers are pleased to welcome back two UWE alumni as soloists.
